The goal of this project will be to assess the feasibility of implementing Youth Basketball programs in the Houston Parks and Recreation Department gymnasiums with primary focus on Judson Robinson Senior Community Center.
The project plan task will include researching past programs and their impact within the city. Interview key stakeholders within the Houston Parks and Recreation Department to gather requirements for starting a Youth Basketball program at the facility. Research and compare the Dallas Parks and Recreation programs for impact, cost and sustainability. Interview leadership within the Boys and Girls Club to gain insight on how their programs are administered and the impact the program has on the community and the organization.
The project will also access the value the project will bring to the community, the start up cost and potential risk. The project will assist the organization by completing the research needed to present to the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department the benefits of having a Youth Basketball program at Judson Robinson Senior Community Center. Additionally, the project will provide a comparative analysis of youth basketball programs and their success rates in other major cities and organizations to help in deciding if starting a youth basketball program within Houston Parks and Recreation Departments will be a value add to the city and the community.
